Aloe Vera juice is said to be beneficial in detoxifying your body and your blood stream. It may be helpful in aiding those with stomach problems such as ulcers or irritable bowel syndrome. Making Aloe Vera juice at home can be ineffective if done improperly. But by following this helpful guide, you can learn how to make Aloe Vera juice safely at home and reap its healthy benefits.

  1. Break off a few leaves from an Aloe Barbadensis Miller plant.
  2. Take a sharp knife and carefully peel the rind from the plant leaves and discard.
  3. Peel the yellow layer just beneath the rind with a sharp knife and discard. The yellow layer can also be removed by gently rinsing it in a solution of 1 tbsp. (15ml) of white vinegar and 1 cup (8oz) water. Once all the rind and yellow layers have been removed, you should be left with only clear Aloe Vera gel.
  4. Continue peeling the outer rind and removing the yellow layer of each leaf until you have approximately 2 tbsp. (30ml) of clear Aloe Vera gel.
  5. Place the 2 tbsp (30ml) of clear Aloe Vera gel into a blender immediately.
  6. Add 1 cup (8oz) of any citrus-based juice, such as orange or grapefruit, to the blender.
  7. Blend the juice and gel until it has a smooth appearance.
  8. Pour the blended juice into a glass and enjoy!

Why Do I Always Wake Up at 3am? – A Simple Solution

If you always wake up around 3am, there may be a simple answer…you are too stressed. Fortunately for most – there is a solution, but first we need to understand why you wake up.

Why Stress Causes You to Wake Up at 3am

Stress causes the adrenal glands to fire off adrenaline. This gives you a burst of energy to deal with stressful situations. Adrenaline also raises the heart rate, increases respiration, dilates the pupils, slows down digestion and causes muscles to contract. It’s like caffeine on steroids!

So if you are stressed or upset it can be impossible to fall asleep, but why does it always wake you up at 3am?

3am is when your liver regenerates. To do so, it needs glycogen. The problem is that adrenaline causes your cells to use up glycogen. So if you are often stressed, your body may not have enough glycogen for the liver to regenerate at 3am. If your liver cannot get the glycogen it needs, your adrenal glands will compensate by releasing adrenalin, which is why you are wide awake and ready for action, not exactly a state you want to be in at 3am.

Coconut is low in natural sugars, and high in fiber, manganese, and nature’s richest source of medium-chain triglycerides, says Dr. Amen. Medium-chain triglycerides are converted into a stable source of fuel for your brain during periods of low blood sugar, and can even help with memory loss (read more on that, here).

In the world of fitness, there is room for disagreement and intelligent discourse among reasonable educated people. The human body is complicated and the reality is there is still a lot we don’t know about how the body responds to training and nutrition. I think the hallmarks of a good fitness…
